Kindergarten is the age where students are soaking up lots of skills that lay the foundation for their success. Learning sounds, letters, decoding and sight word mastery is the foundation to reading success. I am requesting the little library to begin building a library of just right books that will help my students learn to read. These fiction readers will provide the language that is needed to help them with decoding, blending words together as well as learning sight words. In kindergarten the beginning of the year reading focused is largely dependent on using the pictures for support. The bright and colorful pictures will help my readers build the foundation in reading. Imagine picking up a book that is difficult for you to read and understand? These books will help give my students the confidence and knowledge that they need to be successful in reading. I will use the book display stand to keep all of my books organized so my students are able to access the books each day. To my future donors it is my goal to provide the books that are appropriate to help my kindergartners master reading. Having these books in my classroom will not only grow my library but it will also help to instill a love of reading in my kindergarteners. I am so excited about starting the journey to giving my students more books that are on their level! As my first donors choose project I am wanting to share my love of reading with my students.
