Graphing calculators allow students to see mathematical concepts in a different way. Showing students concepts in multiple ways assists student learning and gives a deeper understanding. Graphing calculators are a tool. They make some of the more complex computations easier so students can focus more on the underlying concepts/ideas. They improve critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills because students are able to visualize mathematics. They allow students to investigate difficult concepts and work with these concepts. Many students discover properties while using the graphing calculator. When students investigate and discover on third own, they have a deeper understanding and are more likely to remember the material.
