I am implementing a mastery based learning style, called The Grid Method, in our classroom this year. With this method, I will personalize learning using student paced grids that will help me reach all of the students on their individual levels. Each student will move through the grids at their own pace, as I facilitate and guide them as needed. As they complete a square on the grid, they are given more challenging ways to show mastery with increasing rigor and relevance. Since students will be moving at different paces, they need alternative seats and spaces to facilitate the personalized learning method. The goals is to assess and assist students as they move through their grid towards mastery. I want students to succeed at their own pace and on their own terms. I am "tossing the desks" and going to an alternative seating classroom. I have already been busy acquiring some alternative seating, but I need your help with balance ball chairs and lap desks.
