My school is located in the heart of the city of Milwaukee, a technical and trade based high school. The vast majority of students are low-income and many have special educational needs for cognitive or behavioral reasons. I teach a variety of social studies classes at a variety of levels. I teach AP US Government as well as standard World History classes (that include a large number of students with special needs). Some years I also teach Geography, Citizenship, and Honors World History. My classes generally consist of about anywhere from 35 - 45 students on my roosters. Many do not have folders, pencils, or other basic supplies. I try to incorporate technology into my lessons and hope to use VR tours of historical sites at first as an after school activity as an incentive for students to come to tutoring. Over time I am looking for more ways to incorporate VR and other technology into my classes.
