The items that were chosen for this project are to help us effectively teach a large group of students while continuing to build our community as a whole. To meet the needs of every student we need to be flexible and have options readily available.
In a team teaching situation, flexible seating will help our students become more independent and motivated when it comes to their learning.
In our class, we work together and build effective communication with each other. This not only supports academic success but also promotes social-emotional skills which is a huge focus of first grade.
Floor cushions will allow students to choose a space in the classroom to work while also being comfortable. Stacking stools will save space because of being stacked to store. These stools will allow students a different type of seat to work with. Other materials that will help with space and organization are the book boxes where students can store books, mailboxes where students can easily store unfinished projects and work, and a drying rack will make art run smoothly and be more organized. The materials chosen will create an environment where our students will feel comfortable and maximize space so that learning can be the focus.
