My students come to school full of enthusiasm and ready to learn every day. It can be uncomfortable for my students to sit on hard chairs for six hours every day. They need more flexible seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. When students are able to bounce on an exercise ball, sit, stand, kneel, etc. they will most likely be more engaged and will learn to their full potential. Some of the flexible seating options I hope to provide my students with include wobble stools, wobble cushions for stools and chairs, balance ball chairs, and floor cushions. All of these options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning, all the while keeping them engaged and productive. This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel they have a choice, to feel comfortable, and to feel at home in our classroom. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
