Math binders came from ideas given to me in an awesome staff development offered by my school. Earlier this year our school hosted nationally known Dr Nicki Newton who teaches and speaks about guided math. Dr Nicki was so inspirational that i started creating my math bins with the little money I had left in my classroom budget supplemented by my own money. When asked how we could fund all the materials that are required to teach math in this way Dr. Nicki suggest Donorschoose.org, PTA, and grants! I am using all those avenues to help create an awesome Math environment! Each student will have their own binder, and inside the binder will be interactive sheets inside page protectors. This will help to keep their learning tools organized for them and for me making it much easier to do quick assessments. The binders will be used both during our daily calendar math time were they will keep track of their weather graph, the monthly calendar, and daily count. We will also use them during our daily math lessons as their will be other tools in the binder such as a number line, math games and activities to play when finished with their daily assignments, and a math picture glossary.
