Elephant and Piggie books teach real examples of friendship and feelings. Elephant and Piggie are not always perfect but they learn from their mistakes and learn how to cope with differences. Their imaginations are an inspiration to the students in play and in writing. Students will learn how to problem solve and think about others' feelings when reading or listening to these books. Elephant and Piggie books show how to be a true friend. The text helps students identify feeling words and the correct punctuation to use with those words. Students will be able to draw on the reading experience for their own writing assignments.
