Though the end of the school year is approaching, our students are continuing their hard work as they navigate through their journey of acquiring and utilizing new vocabulary. Our school has recently become a Teachers College Reading and Writing Project school and our students are so excited to learn more through literacy. Given our school's diverse population and high number of English Language Learners, learning new vocabulary is often a challenge. Using tools such as whiteboards and dry erase markers, can foster opportunities for our readers and writers to become more independent when doing word work. Using manila folders as personal word walls and index cards allow students to compile, store, and reference the hard work that they have done. These supplies will create new, effective ways for students to do the great work that they are doing!
