Finding a book you love can change your relationship with reading forever. I work in a urban charter middle school, where most of our students arrive to us reading years behind grade level. Over the course of their four years with us, our middle schoolers work tirelessly to improve their reading levels and catch up to grade level. When a student finds an author or series they love, it can start a chain reaction that leads to monumental reading growth! The books I'm requesting for my classroom library mostly belong to a series, in hopes that students will get hooked on the first book and keep reading! Other books requested are books that are culturally relevant to students' lives and interests as middle schoolers. Thank you for reading and thank you for helping my students!
