In today’s world, students need access to technologies that will help enhance their understanding of the world geographically, politically, and socially. We need a class set of Chromebooks that will help connect my students to the geography and ancient history of cultures and places far away. With Chromebooks, my geography students will be able to apply real-life 21st-century skills to interact with GIS mapping technology to see cultural and physical landscapes that impact human development throughout the world. Chromebooks will give my history students the ability to complete WebQuests and research, engage in group interactive projects, and have access to the limitless supply of primary and secondary sources available through resources like the Library of Congress to enhance our understanding of past cultures and civilizations. At a school that utilizes Google Classroom, Google Docs/Slides, and other Google platforms, students who do not have their own personal device are often at a disadvantage. Adding a few Chromebooks to my classroom will ensure that all my students will have access to a device when needed during class time, and open the door to new, contemporary methods of investigating past cultures and peoples through technology.
