I chose quality literature to help produce deeper meaning in reading. For instance, The Koala Who Could, will help my students realize that taking chances and stepping out of your comfort zone can be beneficial and fun. Good, quality literature makes a difference when trying to make meaning in reading. It also makes a difference in pulling children into enjoying reading for fun. At the young age of 6 and 7, learning to read for enjoyment increases the odds of reading during the middle school years where reading for fun tends to fall to the wayside. The project cases are needed to house curriculum units that include the literature in this project.
