My science classroom consists of 126 4th graders. We are involved in a Project Based Learning Project and we have our own indoor gardens. My students love gardening, learning about garden efficiency, harvesting, donating to a local food bank, and participating in our farmer's market. Our indoor gardens are incredible and we grow large amounts of produce, but the high usage of electricity really concerns all of us. My students researched our ever dwindling resources and they continue to question whether we are using far too much electricity. That being said, we are hopeful to convert some (or preferably all) of our electrical usage over to solar power. We had solar guest speakers in this year that would love to help us out, but solar power is very costly. We will need money to create solar grids that we can add solar panels to as we can afford them.
