Every year, the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA) hosts the Battle of the Books (EBOB), an event that promotes reading and encourages both teamwork and sportsmanship. This year our school participated in the competition for the first time, an experience that had a profound, positive affect on the students. During the practice sessions leading up to the competition, the one consistent limiting factor was the fact that we did not have ready access to enough copies of each EBOB book. While the students studied extremely hard and performed very well in the competition, they could have done so much more with adequate supplies. For the 2018/2019 competition I hope to be able to provide my students with the means to fully exercise their abilities. Following the competition, the books will be available to all of our students via the Media Center.
