My classroom consists of nearly 30 students with disabilities in grades three through six who struggle with leaning disabilities, health impairments, and emotional behavior disabilities. Nearly 70% of students in our school come from low income families (qualifying for free and reduced lunch); about 20% are English Language Learners and about 18% are enrolled in Special Education services. My students' skills range from non-readers to fluent readers. Some can read but struggle with comprehension. Learning is hard for them but we keep a growth mindset and believe in the "Power of Yet" (I don't understand this, YET). Most of all, we believe in ourselves and endless possibilities. Every student is an inspiration and continues to try day-in and day-out. I am marveled by their patience and perseverance and am honored to be their teacher.
