My students spend a lot of time working in small groups, and I have many students who focus better when they have a place to stand or move around during class. My one podium is a hot commodity! I try to provide a lot of time to collaborate, then break apart for instruction or independent work, then collaborate again. The standing desks will be in the back of the room where the students at them can wiggle or stand without distracting others. Since they are lightweight, they will be mobile for easy movement to group work. The folding seats and dry erase stickers will transform my coffee table into a comfy collaborative space, and I will turn my remaining tables into dry erase tables for easier collaborative work and practice visualizing ideas in a convenient and fun way.
