The Howler newspaper staff operates like any regular news organization. The school newspaper is run and operated by the Chino Hills High Journalism students. The purpose of The Howler is to inform the CHHS students and the Chino Hills community about school news, along with providing a voice for the student body. The students are encouraged to polish their communication and organizational skills as they produce both a print and an online newspaper. In doing so, the students learn more about journalistic writing and photography. The students must follow the current trends and events while learning how to write and take pictures in a way that will interest mainly teen readers as well as their overall audience. Photojournalism plays an important part of the journalism process where the student photojournalists work with the writers to capture the visual representation of their stories. The Journalism, photography students take pictures of school events for The Howler. By donating to our newspaper, you will not only help to improve and increase student’s learning of the Journalism process but also give them the opportunity to learn skills that they can ultimately use after high school.
