My students love engaging in adventures together through reading as a class. By using choral, paired and solitary reading, they hone their skills and confidence. As a class, we have selected two vastly different books to explore this year. Bomb is historical non-fiction exploring the Manhattan project and the creation of the atomic bomb. King of Shadows introduces students to the world of William Shakespeare while also throwing in a little time travel for good measure. By introducing new books on subjects that my students are already interested in I hope to fuel their desire for reading as they continue their educational journey. By reading together they will be able to share viewpoints with each other and enrich their sense of community in our classroom.
