This project will help fund a Mock Newbery Club that I have started in my classroom. This year, not only are these books distinguished, but a lot of the them (Amal Unbound, Ghost Boys, The Science of Unbreakable Things) can help lead to discussions that students experience outside of the classroom, too. Helping kids to see that others deserve just as much respect, dignity, and equality can help change the way things are going now in our world. These books will be a great way to help facilitate the discussions that students are facing in an empathetic and caring way.
