These materials will be used in order to minimize the disruption of transitioning to other areas in the room to pick up independent work tasks, as well as allowing the students to keep their own materials. For my special needs students, it is hard to stay focused when they are transitioning from one area to another in order to get their work items and then back to their desk. Often, this makes it hard for them to refocus on their work. These seat pockets and book bins will allow them to have all of their work tasks at their seat. It will also mean that they can keep their own supplies such as crayons and scissors at their seats, without myself or my assistant having to stop instruction with other studnets in order to hand out "classroom" supplies.
