My classroom is a reflection of the city that it in. Gritty is an accurate description of the town and the students in my classroom. Like the town, my students have been knocked down and dealt a serious blow. The grit and resiliency has kept it from being a final blow. With the loss of the General Motors Plant, residence and students alike find themselves faced with a shift in mindset and priorities. My students excel in "hand on" activities. Naturally my students find non traditional ways to solve problems and to think laterally. Smiling in the face of adversity is common place. Smarter and harder work have become their pillar to success.
