We need wobble chairs, balance balls, and wobble cushions. Students learn best when given some freedom in their abilities to learn in the classroom. Flexible seating offers different choices about where and how to move their bodies while learning. Some students move more than others. Flexible seating also allows students to learn how to share space with other classmates allowing for better classroom community. Students can focus more when they are comfortable. They tune in to focused listening and task completing. In addition to all the above, flexible seating emphasizes sensory through touch which is an important kinesthetic sense of learning. 5th grade is full of energetic 10 and 11-year-olds! We want to move it move it!
