My Boston school has over 600 students, with more than 300 English language learners, most live in the poverty level. My AWC -advanced work students are a diverse group of children from many nationalities. They are children who have worked hard to get accepted into an advanced program of studies. My students love to read, work at games and projects that promote critical thinking skills, and do research projects. However, my classroom is void of any technology and my class only has computer science once per week. This makes it very hard for my students to learn the technology skills they need to keep up with students from other communities. Having iPads would increase their engagement in learning, give them access to the most up to date information, helps prepare them for their future studies, and possibly careers.
