Providing my students with Scholastic News gives them access to current events. It also allows them a chance to read from another medium. My students do not read the newspaper nor do they often, if ever, watch the local or national news. While they do have access to the internet at school, it is important that the students still read from things in print and not just on a screen. Recent studies support this need. Putting print in various forms into my students hands is an excellent way to help them grow as readers. We appreciate any and all help to do so.
