My classroom of enthusiastic learners has worked so hard this year with learning to read. Many of my students have moved from non-readers to readers. These students knew sounds and letters at the beginning of the school year and are now blending sounds into words and reading short stories. Due to this rapid growth in reading my students absolutely adore books. They look forward to reading and to listening to stories read aloud. I would like to take this passion a step further by implementing "book projects" in which my students will work on creating their own books. We will work together throughout the whole process of creating stories with illustrations. The coil binding machine will be our final step in the author's process. With the coil binding machine we will be able to publish a beautiful finished product that my students will be able to share with our class, their family and their friends!
