"A Monster Calls" would be a wonderful whole classroom novel. This novel will give students a point of view that many of them may have never been able to experience. It will give them an opportunity to relate and form empathy. This novel contains beautiful pictures that will also be able to foster imagery while reading. Students will be able to use these drawings to help them create an imagine in their head. Reading aloud creates fluency, which many of my students struggle with. My students need to build stamina and reading these novels as a whole class is what helps them build that stamina.
