The 3Doodler Start pens will be a great addition to the Art Studio. My students love building things with their hands and are always looking for new ways to invent. 3D is always a difficult thing to grasp, because we are so often working in 2D. Giving these tools to the students will allow them to work on spatial reasoning and design process thinking, which will help them in every aspect of their lives. I do not expect all of my students to become artists, but I do want to equip them with a love of learning and exploring new possibilities. They will truly be amazing problem solvers. I believe in the productive struggle with learning and giving the students choice. Right now we are limited with 3D building to mostly cardboard and found objects like caps and containers. The 3Doodler pens will allow students to explore ideas that perhaps the tools we currently have couldn't make possible. I am thrilled to see what they will come up with and what they will teach me as well, because they come up with things I would never dream of. These tools are also a great way to introduce 3D printing and starting to design forms on the computer.
