I have read many educational articles that describe the power of structured play time in the classroom. It is my goal to provide at least 30-60 minutes a day where students are allowed to explore, create and problem solve in a way that teaches them to communicate and work with others. I believe that the use of bins of STEAM materials such as these blocks and magnetic tiles is the most effective way to accomplish this. There is power in teaching kids through play. If students are having fun and are engaged, then they will learn. Students should be excited about coming to school, and if learning is structured in a way where students believe they are playing they will be excited.
