I want to transform my classroom into a place where students are comfortable, engaged, energized, and collaborating. If I can create memorable experiences for my students they are going to learn better and retain more. Through room transformations, my students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the characters and scenarios in order to apply the skills and strategies we've been working on in class. We can become secret spies as we look at text evidence to find clues about our story structure. We will review grade level content while following the clues to escape our classroom. Each clue leading us to a combination, unlocking a box which contains more grade level content, until we have successfully broken out (and reviewed our content standards.) Using trivia and games such as Jenga we will be able to review grade level content while having a little friendly competition. Students can take front and center stage as they present their projects in style, complete with stage lighting and our microphone. Through flexible seating options students are able to comfortably collaborate in groups on the floor, around a large table, or at a desk. Special seating options can also be earned through acts of kindness, hard work, and reaching goals and milestones. The more seating options we have, the more the students will work to have the opportunity to use them.
