My second graders are longing to be able to use the school garden. Right now, our school garden lives outside our classroom but it is not a useable space. My students want to rebuild our garden! Students will use the supplies we are asking for to rebuild the garden beds, plant new seeds, water their seeds and watch their garden come to life! The donations to this project will allow students to engage hands-on with life sciences. Students will spend time in the classroom learning about the life cycles of plants. Students will then apply their knowledge first hand by planting and tending to their seeds and plants as they grow. The goal is for students to be able to plant food that they can grow and then take home with them. Our school community faces food insecurity and this project will not only teach students the life cycle of a plant and how to farm for their own food but it also creates a resource for families to use when they are facing difficult times.
