These books will support Units of Study in Reading and Writing Workshop. The mentor texts and sets of books will helps students independently, during mini lessons and for small group instruction or in book clubs. Reading authentic books rather than text books provide meaningful knowledge and provide special moments students will remember longer than reading textbooks. Students in my classroom range from new English Language Learners (ENL) and students not reading on grade level (who can not read or comprehend grade level to texts) to students on and above level. Reading authentic literature will make 4th gr a year to remember!
