Most people have heard of Drop Everything and Read, but what about Drop Everything and Math (DREAM)? Drop Everything and Math is a practice that allows students to develop their critical thinking, problem solving, and math skills all at the same time! For 15 minutes, students can play with and explore math and STEM games, materials, and books. Students then come together to reflect: What was DREAM? What was your favorite part? What did you explore and learn? By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase students' love of and interest in math, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Materials such as ThinkFun Balance Bean Math Games and “Which One Doesn't Belong?: A Shapes Book” will also help encourage our students to use their creativity and participate in the hands-on, active, engaging games and projects that they love! Math is all around us. By using engaging materials such as games, puzzles, and books that have mathematical concepts present in them, students start to notice how math is a part of their every day lives- and that it can be fun!
