Many of my students do not have access to books at home and rely on our school library to check out high-quality books. Each day students inquire when the newest books by their favorite authors will be added to the library and if they can be first to check out these books. There is a buzz about books and an excitement for reading in our school and I am trying to establish this library in my classroom so they will be able to take these books home and share with siblings. My students are all from low economic home situations and books and reading are presented or available to them. This makes it hard when they come to school and some of them have never had a book in their hands to look at or to read/be read too.

About my class
