This school year, our math instruction followed Eureka lessons closely. While the workbooks are great to be used as note recording pages, students have a difficult time collaborating. The whiteboard table that is used for group work has become the desired seating spot. Groups that meet at that table are able to quickly show work, compare, and correct errors. In an attempt to use the current desks in my classroom, we discovered the laminate on the desks is not sufficient for dry erase marker use. It has become challenging to ensure all students receive time at the whiteboard table. My goal is for students to want to show their math work and collaborate with group members. Using the tables throughout the classroom will give all students the ability to work quickly and with others in their area. I can also easily see their work and quickly assess and correct if needed.
