Students today yearn for more than just a picture. They love videos and I show plenty. However, a live tour of a desert or rain forest will make that be part of their experience. I want them to see the beaches of South Africa and the Mediterranean Sea. I want them to feel like they traveled there. For a geography class, the google daydream is the ultimate experience. Not only will they tour these areas but I will be their tour guide. I will show them how a CBD has vertical growth. I want to show them cities and lakes. I want them to see Russia and walk the streets of Baghdad and see the mosques. I want them to see an auto plant and understand industry. My goal is to show them the places and then make them see the challenges most countries face. I know my students will impact the planet. They vow to eat less meat to lower their methane emissions of beef. They promise to buy fair trade. My classroom is already changing them. I cannot imagine what these glasses will do. I know they will want to be more involved and become engaged global citizens.
