Giving my students the choice of where they sit while doing independent work allows my students to feel they can take charge of their learning and make a choice that will work best for them. My students will be allowed to make a choice of a different seat during independent work time while still having a "home base" for whole group work. They currently sit at their desks for the better part of the day and this can lead to extra wiggles during inappropriate times. I have had students ask to sit on the floor and their work improves when allowed to sit so they are comfortable. When my students are given a choice of where to sit they work harder and try harder. The choice of the wobble seats and comfy floor seats give my student additional seating options aside from the traditional chairs. The wobble stools will allow those students that want to stay at their desk the choice to sit at their desk but still be allowed to wiggle. They can also be used as an alternative seat if needed! The comfy floor seats will make a great addition to the choices of seating on the floor and can be used anywhere in the room. I have seen many positives from giving students choice, they take charge and show more pride in their work. I hope to see this continue with their choices in seating.
