These individualized materials will help the students understand the historical pathways of the early settlers of the United States and the battles they participated in to win our freedom. They need to be able to use dry erase markers to trace the travels they are researching so that they can better understand the historical aspects of migration and westward expansion. Having hands-on access to maps so that students can trace American History at their own pace makes it easier to understand the conflicts and troubles the early settlers faced. When students are working on individual projects, they need their own maps for reference purposes. They can get confused when sharing a map when the other student is working on a different topic or timeline. They can also trace world travels and countries they hear about in the news.
