The use of rolling, spinning office chairs provide movement for students during instruction. Movement increases blood flow to the brain which promotes focus. As a teacher of students with special needs, I think it is vital to provide multiple strategies for self-regulation during instruction. The use of rolling, spinning office chairs provides students with an option to regulate their focus independently, through movement. With increased focus, test scores, student independence, and student knowledge will also increase. Also, these chairs will provide more mobility for collaboration among students. It is important to equip and empower students with many options to learn in order for all students to experience success.
