I teach Digital Photography and AP Art classes in my high school. I am always trying to share the few digital cameras that we have with the class and as much as we make it work, it becomes difficult for some students to complete assignments because there just aren't enough cameras to go around. It would be ideal to have a camera for each student to use daily, but our current situation has 3 and sometimes 4 students sharing one camera at a time. We make due with what we have, but I can't tell you just how wonderful it would be to allow more students access to a high quality camera with interchangeable lenses. Last year, many of our students received recognition from the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition for their photography entries and one even received a national award. Two of the photography students in the AP Art class received the highest scores possible on their AP Portfolios and another student won a trip to Washington D.C. for his photography entry in the congressional art competition. This camera would serve not just the students in my two photography classes this year, but many other art students in other classes as well as future students for years to come, as this style of camera stays relevant longer than most.
