I taught 3rd grade my first two years of teaching. Then I was chosen to participate in a program that was going to Kínder. That, allowed me to stay in Kínder for 2 years. Then, for this 2018-2019 school year, I will be going back to 3rd grade. Usually, this would be a joyous moment. However, everything I had for 3rd grade is now gone. My new dual language, 3rd grade students are going to need many things. Things that I won't be able to give them without your help. This past year, these student have gone through a lot. They have suffered through Hurricane Harvey, lightning fires, flooding due to the overflow in the sewers, and snow days. To say the least, they have not had a very structured year. I am a strong believer in the thought that students need a repetitive daily schedule, in an educational system, in order to be successful in their academics. Theses items will allow them to experience a structured, organized and well supplied classroom. The listening center and headphones will allow students to develop much needed fluency and vocabulary.The baggies will be used to differentiate reading material for the listening center. The dry erase markers will allow the students to practice manipulating words in their word work center. The storage cabinets will be used to differentiate the students word work and writing activities. The timer will allow students to think about time while working on reading passages. This is important since they will only have 4 hours to finish 5, 3rd grade reading passages during STAAR. My students and I thank you for taking the time to help us in our learning journey!
