My parents would genuinely love to help their child improve their learning skills, but are at a loss when it comes to finding proper materials. We need backpacks that will be filled with materials that move between the school and home so that parents can help their child grasp phonological awareness, and develop skills in early math, science, reading, print knowledge, and oral language/vocabulary. There are attribute blocks that teach patterning and creation of new shapes. Hundred charts help the children skip count for multiplication readiness. Bubble solution promotes early science discovery. The alphabet chart is used for teaching alphabetical order and for the letter of the week. Glue sticks, crayons, scissors, and construction paper will be used for home learning assignments. The sight readers can be used by the parents to do picture walks and ask comprehension questions. Parents will sign out a backpack weekl, which will house the materials and home learning to ensure a strong connection between school and home. The materials and home learning assignments will coincide with the reading series, Scholastic Big Day, which is being presented weekly in the classroom. Pre-K students need large pencils, which are not easily available. These pencils, sharpeners, and the handwriting paper will assist in the children being able to form the letters properly. The child's knowledge of skills will be enhanced through the connection of home and school working together to better present materials on the level of learning of the child. When parents are engaged in their child's learning, more information is absorbed and a love of school is developed!
