My Alabama school is described as "inner city." I see kids who need love and support to make their dreams come true. Many of them come from single-parent families, and parents do not have the resources to buy books for their children. Sometimes, they cannot even get their kids to the local library, which is less than two miles from our school. Therefore, it is my responsibility to give these kids the best reading resources possible during the school day. My students are eager to learn, and they love to re-read the books that we share during read-alouds. What better gift can I give than the tools that foster a lifelong love of reading?
