We will be using "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" as a base for developing the necessary language around days of the week, foods, and the life cycle of a butterfly. We will use songs, station groups, and hands-on STEM activities. Kindergartners will be able to compare the language in the text we will focus on to what they see happening in real time in the butterfly gardens. Over our three week unit, students will use what they see as a basis of experience to complete a shared writing class book. They will be able to revisit their learning and practice fluency through multiple reads of this class book.
