My students learn through play. The Pretend Play Center allows the students to use their imaginations in exciting ways. This center allows teachers and other students a wonderful place to model good language examples for our limited verbal students. This center provides opportunities for language rich play between peers of varying abilities. Our classroom would greatly benefit from the Melissa and Doug Grocery Stand/Lemonade Stand. This stand could be transformed into different pretend play scenes. For example, it could be a hot chocolate stand during our Snow theme week or a bakery the holiday season. It could a post office or a doctors office. The possibilities are endless and I look forward to seeing how my creative students use it.
