These items will be used to provide alternative seating to my first grade students. Ridding the room of desks and chairs will create more space. The table can be lowered so that students may use cushions to sit on the floor. Stools will be used at a few desks instead of chairs. Seat cushions allow for movement if students need or select chairs. Alternative seating provides sensory modulation. This sensory stimulation plays a role in learning and improving academic achievement by allowing use of all senses. Student motivation and engagement improve. Extra energy is spent allowing students movement. These items will provide alternative seating for students throughout the classroom. I hope to see students more engaged and a decrease in behavioral issues.
