Flexible seating gives students the power of choice in their learning. When working independently, students can choose where and how they will work best. Currently, students in my classroom sit around the room with cushions and clipboards to collaborate with peers. Giving students a choice in seating and providing a comfortable environment are both essential components in motivating students and ensuring success. Students are more engaged and on-task when they are given a choice in their seating and we accomplish more when we are engaged and comfortable. The products I have selected will help my students by giving them a variety of seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools and the balance balls allow movement while working and will help with students' sustained attention. These will provide an alternative to chairs and they will be beneficial for some students who just need to move! The rug and comfy floor pillows will allow additional comfortable floor seating options. The pillows can easily be used around the classroom. In a classroom, student choice is an obvious motivator that positively affects students' work and engagement. I hope these items will help us push the limits and grow personally and academically!
