Our high school is a large urban school in a diverse neighborhood. A large percentage of our students are refugees, new to the country, and, in some cases, new to formal education. Their families are just becoming settled and are striving to secure housing and employment. There is not a lot of money left over for expensive school supplies such as graphing calculators! Our students are happy to be in the United States and eager to complete their education.
