My school is located within a city and we have a total of 749 students. Among the students, 87.1% come from a low-income background and 34.4% are ELL students. In terms of race and ethnicity, our school's population is 47.4% Hispanic, 22.5% White, 18.2% African American, 7.6% Asian, 3.8% Multiracial, Non-Hispanic and 0.4% Native American. Many of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our classroom size ranges from 25 to 35 students. Within our classroom, there are many learning styles and learning abilities. This requires a teacher to be adept in differentiating lessons and creative to maintain a "student focused" classroom. There is a group activity requirement to promote student discourse. As I stated, ELL students make up 34.4% of our student population. Therefore groups of students must be carefully created so that no student is left behind.
