After researching the power of play, I restructured my morning activities in my 2nd-grade classroom from paper-pencil activities to more hands-on/ STEM activities that promoted play. I saw some of my most frustrated students start their day now feeling successful and excited. My classroom needs more activities to promote play. I have asked for Plank sets, Knex Simple Machines, Tumble Trax Marble Run to incorporate into our morning choices. My students work in small groups creating and using their imaginations. They also learn how to work as a team and problem solve using these materials. My students would be so excited and grateful for these new items!
