In a classroom of fifth graders who spend a majority of their day playing video games or on social media on their cell phones, I am always trying to come up with different strategies to motivate my students to read. I have conversations with my students who really feel that reading is boring. This is the reason why I would like more books added to my classroom library. I would like a variety of different genres and more diverse topics. A lot of students come to my classroom and they have never read a chapter book before. So I start off telling my students that reading is just like watching a movie. When I say this they are so surprised and they want to prove me wrong. So I start off reading a chapter book to them. I normally start off with the chapter book "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing", because it is hilarious. After reading the first chapter students find themselves interested in the story. They start inferring and relating what is going on in the story to their lives.
